3rd All-Party motion on cross-border bombings passed

For the third time in eight years, Dáil Éireann passed an All-Party motion urging the British Government, as it did in previous motions passed in 2008 and 2011, to release the files withheld from Justice Henry Barron in the early 2000s. A wide-ranging debate took place which addressed the search for truth and justice of the bereaved families and survivors.

42nd anniversary of Dublin and Monaghan bombings

Alan McBride, pictured above, whose wife was killed in the IRA bomb on the Shankill Road, Belfast in October 1993, delivered the annual oration to mark the 42nd anniversary of the Dublin and Monaghan bombings. Críona Ní Dhálaigh, the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Charlie Flanagan, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Monaghan Mayor Noel Keelan laid wreaths. The prayers were led by Fr. Tom Clowe and music was provided by uileann piper, Eoin Dillon.

Justice for the Forgotten was greatly honoured to be among the recipients of awards from the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Árdmhéara Críona Ní Dhálaigh on 3rd May 2016.
The award was given 'in recognition of their ongoing campaign to seek truth and justice for those killed and injured in the bombings in Dublin and Monaghan on 17 May 1974'

40th anniversary commemoration of Seamus Ludlow's death

Séamus Ludlow's 40th anniversary occurred on 2nd May 2016. A 47-year-old forestry worker, Séamus was shot dead on his way home from a night out socialising in Dundalk by loyalists, two of whom were members of the UDR. The Ludlow family held a public meeting in the Lisdoo Arms Hotel on the evening of his anniversary in which Margaret Urwin was honoured to participate.

The committee of Justice for the Forgotten are, from left to right in the photo above, Bernie McNally, survivor of Talbot Street bomb; Pat Fay, whose father, Patrick Fay, was killed in Talbot Street; Monica Duffy-Campbell, whose husband, Tommy Duffy, was killed in Sackville Place on 1st December 1972; Aidan Shields, whose mother, Maureen Shields, was killed in Talbot Street; Bernadette Joly, survivor of the Talbot Street bomb and Kevin O'Loughlin, whose mother, Christina O'Loughlin, was killed in South Leinster Street.

Cross-party committee on victims' issues

Justice for the Forgotten attends regular meetings with members of the Oireachtas to seek their support and raise issues of concern to victims of the conflict in the Republic of Ireland, particularly the proposed legacy mechanisms agreed in the Stormont House Agreement.

The Dublin concerts, which were attended by families and survivors of the Dublin and Monaghan bombings on 23rd and 24th November 2015, were very moving and emotional evenings.
U2 featured their song Raised by Wolves which highlights the loss of life in the unsolved atrocity. The song is accompanied by a display of images of the victims and the sound of explosions. Family members were invited guests of the band over two nights.
